How can I use Transit to localize software?

Traditionally, CATs (computer assisted translation tools) were used for the translation of documentation, i.e. content created with word-processing or DTP applications. For the translation of software strings, other tools were developed, the so-called "resource editors". Apart from offering support for the different formats used for software resources, these tools also offered functionalities for tasks like dialogue resizing or hotkey localization.

Closing the gap

With Transit NXT, STAR closed the gap between these two different types of tools by editing resource editing capabilities to Transit NXT's translation editor. Now, you can perform both tasks - software localization and documentation translation - with the same tool, and reap all the benefits that this entails: lower Total Cost of Ownership, better leverage of linguistic assets, more vendors to choose from for your localization tasks etc.
