Segment revision tracking 

The latest Transit NXT Service Pack provides a new feature for logging and comparing revision steps. With its help, you can log revisions of translations in order to display and compare revision steps in multistage translation processes, consisting of translation, proofreading, external review, etc. During these processes, the translation of the segment may be changed by different users (translator and reviewer). You can then choose to see which user has changed the segment and what changes have been made.
When working in the proofreading mode, you can configure Transit NXT to log the changes of a translation (text as well as markups) as a revision when:

• A new segment status is assigned
• And/or this change is made by a different user

When unpacking translation packages (TPF files), you can direct Transit NXT to log the changes to a translated segment as a revision when:

• The status of the segment has been changed
• And/or this change is made by a different user

In order to see the changes made by the reviewer, you need to select the Log as revision option when unpacking the TPF file (the translated/reviewed project package), as shown in the following image:

The changes made to a segment can be seen in the Segment info window. The option Show last revision is marked by default in the contextual menu of the Segment info window and you can choose to see or hide the revisions, i.e., the changes made by different users to a translated segment. You can select or deselect this option by right clicking in the Segment info window as shown in the following image:

This enables you to see the difference between the current and the previous translation.
You can display and check segments with revisions as follows:
1.    Using keyboard shortcuts
a.    Using SHIFT + CTRL + MINUS (on the numeric keypad) to see the previous comment or previous revision step
b.    Using SHIFT + CTRL + PLUS (on the numeric keypad) to see the next comment or next revision step
2.    Using segment filters
You can create a new segment filter to view segments with revisions only. Go to View > Segment filter > Create and select the option Only segments with revisions from the Segment info tab, as shown in the following image:

You can also view the revisions made to a translated segment in detail. In order to do so, select a target language segment containing revisions. Then right click to open the contextual menu and select the Compare revision steps option. Transit NXT opens the Compare revision steps window, as shown in the image below:

In the revision overview seen in the above image, select a revision step and specify whether you want to compare the selected revision step with the current or the previous step.
Transit NXT then displays the following detailed comparison window:

You can restore the segment to its original state, i.e., back to the original translation by discarding the revision made by the reviewer. To do so, click on Restore selected revision step. This will restore the segment to its original state and discard the changes made by the reviewer or proofreader. Alternatively, you can choose to accept the changes made by the reviewer by clicking on the Close button. These two options can be seen in the above image.
This new feature in Transit NXT therefore gives a project manager full control over the entire translation process. The project manager can see any changes made during the review process and decide whether to accept or discard those changes. The new option to filter segments containing only revised segments helps you to save a lot of time and means that you do not have to go through the file one segment at a time, you can simply look at the segments that have been modified and then accept or reject the changes.
